When is the best time to have your siding replaced?
The seemingly obvious answer would be during the spring and summer when it is nice out, weather is favorable, and construction companies want to be outside. However, this isn’t necessarily the case. With advances in siding and exterior building products it is now possible to successfully replace siding through the colder winter months.
These advances include color match caulking, in-house proprietary painting processes, and paint touch up kits that work effectively outside in cooler temperatures. While these aren’t life altering advancements, they make it possible to re-side a home at any time, including the winter.
Why does this matter? Well, the exciting part is that during the winter the plants and grass are dormant, and the ground is frozen or solid. This means that our crew will be able to cause less disruption to your landscaping. It also means less disruption to your grass, and no issues with rainy days halting progress. Cold weather might actually be a help instead of a hindrance. If you have your siding replaced during the winter, you can enjoy it all summer long without the disruption of construction in your front yard.
While replacing siding during the cooler winter months we use several methods to make sure that we keep our materials at the optimal temperatures. Heat boxes, in all shapes and sizes are used to keep caulking and painting products warm and ready for use. This is in addition to proper storage and handling of the materials.
If you are considering new siding for your home, don’t be deterred by the temperature outside. We can definitely replace that siding regardless of the winter weather.
